If your Milgard SmartTouch Lock for your window is not working correctly or has malfunctioned in any way, it is in the best interest of the security of your home to get it replaced. This article will guide you through the process of replacing your Milgard SmartTouch Lock. (Please make sure to read our FAQs disclaimer before reviewing or enacting any FAQ content/recommendations.)

The materials required to complete this procedure is needle nose pliers, Phillips head screwdriver, and a new SmartTouch Lock.

To start the procedure, you need to open your window entirely. Then, take out the window sash by lifting it up and pulling the bottom out first. Find the mortise screws on the outside of the sash. Take your Phillips head screwdriver and take out both screws while keeping the lock handle in place. Once you have loosened the screws, take your needle nose pliers and use them to take out the screws from the mortise body. Now, you will be able to remove the lock handle by pulling down on the handle and towards the inside of the sash. Finally, using your Phillips head screwdriver, once again, push the mortise lock body from your vinyl frame.

Now it is time to put in the new Milgard SmartTouch Lock. First, you need to make sure that you have extended the mortise latch by depressing the release button on the side of the mortise latch. Making sure that the sloped side of the mortise latch is facing the glass, place the mortise lock body into the vinyl sash. Once that is done, you will depress the mortise latch back into the lock body. Finally, take the new SmartTouch Lock and install it into the vinyl sash and mortise lock body. You will finish the procedure by reinserting the screws into the mortise lock body and replacing the sash into the window frame by placing the top first.

You now have successfully replaced your Milgard SmartTouch Lock in your window.
