How To Remove and Replace a Sliding Glass Door Screen

Sliding glass door screens are vital in allowing a fresh breeze flow through your home while protecting the room from unwanted insects and other intruders from entering your house. However, it is essential that you clean the screen of your Milgard sliding glass door on a regular basis. To properly clean your door, it is recommended that you fully remove the sliding glass door screen. This article will tell you how to: proper removal & replacement of sliding glass door screen. Before you begin on how to: proper removal & replacement of sliding glass door screen, you will need a Phillip’s screwdriver, putty knife, safety glasses, and gloves.

The first step on how to: proper removal & replacement of sliding glass door screen is to remove the screen door. To do that, you need to take the door off of the rollers. On either side of the screen, you will find the proper screws to raise the screen door up. Using your Phillip’s screwdriver, turn the screws clockwise to lift up the Milgard sliding glass door screen until you see the head of the screw. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the door. The wheels should now be in an upright position.

Now, you want to raise the screen and find the wheels at both ends of the screen. Placing your putty knife under the first wheel, push in and lift it up. Then, gently slide the screen towards you. Repeat on the other side to fully remove your Milgard sliding glass door screen.

When you are ready to reinstall your screen door, you first line the top two wheels in the track and push up on the screen until it doesn’t go any higher. Holding the screen door out just a little, push up on the wheel with your putty knife and slide the screen door back into the track. Repeat on the other side.

The last step in how to: proper removal & replacement of sliding glass door screen is adjusting the rollers. Turn the screws counterclockwise with your screwdriver until the screen is lowered back into the track. Then, do it on the other side to complete the procedure.
